Dem nodded, listening to her talk of graduating. So that was something she personally wanted to accomplish. At least it wasn't her parent's goal for her--it was hers. He knew she would get there as long as she kept at it. He couldn't see that changing anytime soon. After all, she had just said it herself. She will be happy and smiling the day she does graduate. He hoped she got there but still didn't think he would be there that day. "I know you will get there, your determination is very evident," he replied, more to show that he was still paying complete attention.
He laughed as she mentioned the reunions. Thinking about it--he could just slip into the human world to see her. Then again, his appearance would set her off and make her wonder--he was sure of that. He couldn't imagine himself truly growing old. He cared far too much for his looks to even think about his hair changing colors, his body beginning to 'malfunction' and losing the awareness he had now. No that would suck hard core! "I don't want to see either of us getting older. Personally, I like things the way they are now, the simplicity of high school is agreeable. Or maybe I just enjoy ticking my teachers off by skipping and letting them know I am doing it?" He joked.
Really, Demetrius had lied to her again. He didn't like things the way they were. He wanted so much more for himself. Perhaps a nice demon or angel to love and who would love him. Even that thought right now had no merit--he did like Lila too much. He wanted her, but knew that wasn't in his best interests--right? He also wanted to rule Hell's Court, he didn't have that yet. Not to mention that he wanted Lysander out of the picture and all those Angels needed to go too! No, Demetrius didn't want the same things he had now, he wanted extreme changes!
He listened again to her words, finding the sense in them a nice thing to think about. He didn't see himself dying anytime soon and he certainly didn't see himself getting sued. Perhaps being on trial for murder was a possibility, but no one would sue him. He noted her indecision but also took note of her choices. Two extremes to be honest. As she mentioned the Giraffe he laughed openly. "I think being a Giraffe would be more fun than being a Doctor or a Lawyer. Maybe I am wrong?--Personally I haven't thought about what I want to be. I guess being alive is on that list." Another lie! He wanted to be the ruler of Hell's Court. Would that sit well? 'Well, Lila, I want to be the supreme king of Hell.' He could see it now, the look of complete confusion on her face and then her checking him into a mental ward. Nope--that wasn't a good thing to mention.
After pulling out the food, the smile on her face made his smile grow again. She really was hungry. Her first comment caught him off guard a moment but his appearance never wavered. He didn't show any of what he was feeling but that feeling returned, the one that felt both good and bad. He couldn't fall for her! No more than he had at least. He didn't want to lose everything over one human girl.
He approved of her choice of the Macaroni salad. That was one of his favorites. At least among the things in his lunch. He laughed again, loving how often she joked. He didn't mind packing her a lunch along with his but he didn't mention that. The last thing he needed was more for Audrey to hold over his head. She had tried that once already. He let a smile linger, "Seems I am doomed to starve!" he exclaimed in mock-distress.

Lila smiled; she was glad Demetrius though she'd be able to do it. Well no one was worried Lila wouldn’t graduate, they never told her how they though she would succeed, it was always some thing that was unwritten, every one knew it would happen, so didn’t feel the need to say it though Lila liked hearing it from the ones close to her. “Thanks.” Demetrius always put worries out of her mind; he always knew Lila could do some thing if it was what she wanted.
Lila smiled and though about being old, and she didn’t like the thought. “I know I don’t want to be older. I just want to look the way I do know forever, but I guess that is one of the draw backs to living getting older. Wouldn’t be cool if we could live forever and look the same as we are now. I so want to find out how to do that when I’m older.” She laughed. “Yer high school is pretty easy, and simple, which is nice, bur it gets boring. For me any way, you make your own fun annoying teachers.” She smiled
Lila laughed, “I was two!” She explained, but she still found it funny herself, so other people were bound to laugh. “Yep it defiantly would be a better, and more fun, but I don’t know how I would do it.” She laughed again. She thought about it, “Yep being alive would defiantly be a good thing.” She would like to live a full life.
Lila laughed, she nudged him a little bit, and “I won’t eat all you’re lunch that would be unfair, a very mean to let you starve.” She hugged him. “I defiantly don’t want to see you starve. Then who would I have to sit with socking wet in a boiler room, and who would give me some lunch when I’m hungry?” She said joking around.

Demetrius had hoped his words were clean enough to make his point clear. From the look of Lila and her reactions, not to mention the way she said "Thanks," he knew he had hit the spot. He was getting pretty good at faking everything, well--he always was good at it. Perhaps that was a really good thing. The truth was not something he thought Lila could handle at the current point in time.
He almost smirked as she said she wanted to remain the way she is forever--or at least that it would be cool. He found that a little ironic, or at least the idea a little ironic. Growing old was certainly not on his to do list--at least in his own mind. He personally found high school to be really boring. After all he had no need to be there--let alone get good grades. What was in it for him? Did it put him any closer to becoming the ruler of Hell Court? Nope! School was useless to him--it was just a way to get close to the amulet and now, being around Lila had become a problem. But it was a problem he didn't want to get rid of--which was just a part of the problem.
"Well, I find school rather boring, which is why I try to make it interesting for myself. I guess my grades suffer because of it--but that is alright with me. Everyone needs their entertainment I am sure. I have my own ways of achieving my goals." He smiled. He knew his goals, and the best way to get them was to get rid of Lysander completely. Give it a little time and he would reach that goal. He knew he could--he knew it. Only if Lila didn't get in his way, but that was becoming a problem. He knew now, he was falling for her, he just hoped the feeling wasn't mutual. That could cause more problems.
He laughed with her over the Giraffe comment. "I guess it would be difficult to pull off!" he agreed, laughing some more. He nodded and the laughter lingered on his features for a short time. He hoped he wouldn't have to tell her what he wanted to be. He couldn't tell the truth and knew he would have to lie again. Maybe there was a way around it?
"If you are enjoying it so much feel free to. I can always buy something instead. Its not a problem at all. I won't let myself starve, believe me." he ammended, having been only joking. She knew that--or else she wouldn't have laughed. "Well--you could always sit in the boiler room with me when you are not soaking wet...that way it would be under less stressful circumstances for the both of us. Your morning wasn't exactly agreeable. At least it has turned for the better now--so instead of worrying about who would be sitting here with you if I was starved to death--lets think about what you would do without me!" he said it with what sounded like mock arrogance--really that was how he felt. He knew she would find out what that was like soon enough.

"I find school boring, but then i have fun out side of school. Demetrius, what do you do out of school exactly? I mean i never really see you around at any of the place most people hang out. I'm starting to think you don't have a social life." She smiled "Well are picnic this weekend will start you seeing people out side of school."She added, they had discussed it over IM, Lila still hoped he would come.
"Yer well i hope you have a way to achieve you're goals." She said and though if she could help him, then realized he'd never told her any of his goals. "What are you're goals?" She asked, a little upset he hadn't told her. It was what friend did right? They told each other what they wanted to do or what they wanted to become. "I swear every time we have this conversation or a conversation like it you never say what you want to be you just divert to me." She said looking up at him. Maybe she was just going crazy.
Lila laughed. A Giraffe was a but out of her limits, but it would be nice to be something more interesting than an every day human. Lila though it would be cool if she could shape shift. One of the Powers she always wanted. Some thing Cole or her father had put in her head no doubt. The two of them loved to go on about the unexplained, make up meanings. Cole and his heaven and hell theory. The whole school knew about it, but no one would play along like Lila. She listened to his theory's. Other people just laughed at him.
"OK as long as you think you can l live with out it, and as long as you don't starve. I don't want you dieing on me." She smiled what would she do with out him...hum? Well she'd be heart broken if he Left or died. She wouldn't have him to make her feel better, to bring her out of a bad mood into a good one. She wouldn't have some one to make her laugh, or some one she knew she could be stupid in front of and they would just laugh but think nothing of it. Demetrius had changed a lot in her life. She wished he hadn't some times, as he didn't feel the same, but she was glad most the time. "Umm... i don't know what i would do with out you Demetrius." She smiled hugging him and kissed him on the check. "So thank you for not starving to death."

Demetrius thought about it a moment. He hadn't thought about that cover. He mostly just sat around playing video games with himself--the last thing he needed was to tell her he played multi player super smash brothers with duplicates of himself. That wouldn't sit too nicely. "Well, I spend time outside of school in very few ways. Mostly video games and reading though. I also tend to do some shopping here and there. I have to do my own grocery shopping and clean my own house so that takes a lot. Not to mention I make regular stops to Starbucks for coffee. I guess I don't have much of a social life...but thats alright, I don't mind." He remembered their IM conversation and made note of it quickly to himself not to forget. He wasn't the type to forget but just in case...
Demetrius paused and almost lost it for a moment. How could he tell her what he wanted to do--in a way that wasn't a complete lie. He wanted to divert it again, but he could tell she was upset. OH! "I am sure I can get there. You don't need great grades to be a politician right? I mean, can you see it now. Me--a president, or something like that." A king is a type of politician right? He felt a little better telling a half truth rather than a complete lie. "I don't mean to divert it...I just didn't think it mattered much." Great, he had to lie anyway. There was that sinking feeling again. He hated to lie to her--he shouldn't mind it though. This was just more signs to alert him of his feelings.
Demetrius wondered how it felt to be just a common human. He didn't care to find out and figured it would be extremely boring. He enjoyed being a one man football team, or being able to play video games with himself. He couldn't see things any other way. How limiting it must be to just be one person and have nothing special but a brain with a high IQ. Or what about those idiots out there. They had nothing in his opinion.
Demetrius laughed, "I won't let myself starve and I am not going to die on you. I can grab myself something later." He loved how caring Lila could be, no one else gave a d**n about him. Especially fellow demons, all of them were out for themselves, just like he was. Don't even get started on Angels, they would see him dead any day. He hadn't really connected with any of the humans, other than Lila.
Thank goodness he hadn't but he kind of wished he hadn't connected with Lila. This was going to mess with his plans...but he did want Lila around. He didn't want to be without her now. d**n IT! He couldn't think like that! This was going down hill too fast. What could he do to stop it? He had nothing! Maybe if he skipped their date Saturday and left her to wait...no that was too dishonest. Wait, since when was dishonesty a hard thing for Demetrius. He lied about who his father was everyday to the point where he almost believed it...He couldn't be falling for her. No! No! No! Its too late...I think--I think I--$#&$
He felt that odd feeling, a sinking feeling and almost like a part of him was breaking away. This was bad. VERY bad! "I am sure you would find someone else to replace me. If I wasn't here you would never know any differently anyhow." he didn't completely mean it but he was trying to prevent anything from escalating. Just then a kiss on the cheek and that hug sent that sinking feeling, that missing part seemed more distant to him. "Your Welcome.." he smiled.

Lila laughed. She couldn't Imagen not going out at the weekend. She was a good student, but she hated revising and home work. It normally didn't take her that long so from Friday evening to Sunday she would be out with her friends, shopping partying. They all teased her know because of how she would 'ditch' them at school. They knew how she felt about Demetrius, shame he didn't. They all tell her to act the way she usually dose. Just flirt like hell. No one had said no to her, but what if he was the first, and then it would be some one she cared about.
Lila looked at him and though about him being president. She erupted into laughter. "Oh My God!" She said through laughs. "That would be so weird, and if i had kids around then. School would be voluntary, and homework would be illegal." She said just imagining the crazy world he could make. She finished laughing. "No I'm sure you'll be great. Like you said, if it's what you want to do. Go for it." She said, "but you have to see, how it's slightly funny to me." She smiled.
Lila liked learning more about him, some times he seemed really secretive about things, but when she asked him, he always told her the truth. She was always being stupid thinking he was keeping some thing from her. If he was than he wouldn't answer her question. Though she guessed he got annoyed at her some times. She could be quite noise when she wanted to be.
"Yer guys like there food way to much to starve." She smiled. "But you still stay fit." She said looking at his six pack through he shirt, and she smiled to herself. She wasn't sure if he saw her or not. Probably since they were sitting right next to her, but she was allowed to look. She laughed lightly at her thoughts.
She looked out at him and pouted a little. "No i wouldn't. I can't replace you. I might find a close second, but not another you Demetrius." Maybe she was giving to much away, but she wanted him to know, if any thing did happen to him, he mean some thing to her. "Could you replace me if i died tonight and did come in tomorrow. Would you just find another girl to sit in the boiler room with?"She asked "If you weren't here i wouldn't notice the difference, but there way a reason you did come into my life, and why i came into your's." said seriously.

Demetrius didn't mind the time he spent at home. He didn't mesh well with the human world. His ideas and his way of thinking was just too different. Not to mention by reaching his goal he may bring about their destruction. The last thing he needed was to acquaint himself with them. He knew Lila didn't seem like the type, but he could see her out partying with a few friends on weekdays. He hoped she enjoyed it while it lasted. After all--it would all be gone one day. Especially if she became a doctor or a lawyer.
He laughed with her at the idea. Yes, his world would be an interesting one. Ruling something like this world would bring that about--but he didn't want this world. Or just one country either. He wanted Hell's Court. It was something more than a small country. He nodded his agreement, laugher still spilling from his lips. "I think I could make quite a difference if I was in a powerful position like that..." he laughed. Really, if he was in a power position like that in Hell's Court, all hell would break loose...for sure.
He was content to find her smiling now after her horrible morning. It was a nice change that was for sure. He had started to pick up her vibes on her feelings a long time ago and now he was even more sure. With all their conversation and her reactions--he was positive she liked him. Or perhaps he was just being his arrogant self. He knew he wasn't unattractive--though his personality could use a little work. She didn't see the nasty Demetrius; in all honesty she never would at this rate. He was falling for her and quickly. All the early signs were here. He didn't want to lie to her--be dishonest at all. He was pleased when she praised him for anything, not to mention he was finding her more and more intriguing. This was not good!
He laughed, but completely agreed. "Yes, I love food too much to starve, more directly I love desserts too much to starve!" he agreed. He noted her checking him out and added a confirmation to what he already knew. With a sly smirk on his face, and an intent to make her turn red he commented. "Like what you see?" he asked playfully. He caught her laugh and his own amusement laced his features.
"Its good to hear you won't replace me." He used this as a thrice confirmation to his guess at her feelings and now he felt royally screwed. She liked him--he liked her. This meant bad consequences. Completely awful consequences to be honest. Falling in love with a human was only harming his way to power. But he wanted her more than that power---that admittance was a REALLY bad thing...
He thought about it this time, rather than just saying what she wanted to hear. He knew he couldn't really replace anyone. It simply didn't work that way--but he didn't want to replace her. Usually he wanted to. This was really bad. Maybe it was just the moment!? Yes that was it. He could confirm it--this weekend! Yes, he would do that.
"No, I couldn't replace you...and Its not like another girl can be Lila. --I guess there could be a reason I came into your life, but I bet it isn't a good one. I mean I am hardly a good influence." He mostly meant that he was here to get that amulet and complete annihilate humanity--but thats alright. He would do it well like everything else he did. Only now--he wasn't so sure he wanted that. He wanted Lila to be safe and happy--she would not get that if he did get the amulet...

She rested her head on his arm for a second as a sort of apologies for laughing. "No, i know you'd make a difference, and a good difference. You would have grown up when you get into power i guess, and it would be some thing you liked, and felt passionate about and so you would take it more seriously than you take school." She smiled at him. "Though that would be really weird for me. 'Hey kids you know the president?'" [/i]She said as if she was talking to kids. "'yer mum'" She said back in a kid like voice. "'Well i used to go to school with him.'" She laughed. "No one would believe me, so I'd have to show them the picture of us two." She smiled. Lila really wasn't to over joyed with growing older but, she was looking forward to some bits. Like looking back on her memories, but she didn't want to loose contact with some of her friends she had now. Like she didn't want to loose contact with Demetrius. She knew it was kind of stupid and desperate, but she did really like him, and the two of them were good friends. Since he turned up at Edgewater High the two had been together most of the time. "Yep typical boy. I bet you eat you're family out of house and home. See if i ate as much as you or my brother i would be as big as my house by now." She laughed. She blushed slightly as Demetrius saw her sneaky look. Well obviously not so sneaky. She laughed a little bit. "Not bad." She smirked. "Well I'm glad to hear you couldn't replace me either." She smiled brightly. "I bet my life would be so boring if you hadn't of come into it. Well my school life would be boring." She had a good time of the weekend when Demetrius wasn't around. Demetrius was in a couple of Lila classes and he would always make her laugh. She looked up at him, and knew what she was about to say would sound cheese, so she though about what to say. "Well you've already made a difference in my life, and maybe it wasn't the best influence." She knew that if some one else had come down the stair in to the boiler room she would have left, but he made her want to stay. "Maybe you didn't come into my life to make a difference to me, but you came into my life, and i came into you're to change your's." She smiled. "What were you like in you're other school?" She asked. "No let me guess...typical bad boy?" She laughed. [/blockquote]

He was happy to have her in contact but he let it drop knowing he was already being a fool. He needed to stop this now--but he didn't want to. He knew he wouldn't. Demetrius was so confused--he didn't know what to do. He wanted to be with Lila--he knew that now. Oh how he hoped it was just a fling. But if it went further than that he was in trouble. He listened to her amend the joking and let it hang--he wished that was what he could be. He knew that wasn't his nature. She didn't know what he was--
He laughed as she did a mock conversation with non-existent children. He knew that would never happen--he would be no president. No one would know who he was and if they did it wouldn't be in a good way. He wasn't about to do something amazing for humanity. She would not want to tell her kids she knew him--that was for sure. That alone let him know he couldn't be with Lila. But he wanted to--and Demetrius always gets what he wants.
He knew Lila was a close friend--time had given him that. He loved her for it but he also knew the harm it was to what he wanted to do. He couldn't just tell her all about it. Let her know what was going on and how. It just wouldn't happen. Not yet at least--he wanted to tell her the truth, but she would hardly believe him. Date her first--worry about that later. He could ask her out more definitely this weekend when they were together--that would work. NO! He wouldn't take this further!
This was where Dem knew things would get awkward. Lila didn't know about his lack of family. "Well--not really. I live on my own, I don't have family. My mother died a long time ago and I never knew my father." He left out the fact that he killed his mother himself. He said it confidently, not the least bit upset by the matter. It was for the better--his father was the king of Hell's Court, in theory and his mother was a liability. She would have given away everything. If he was wrong she could give that lie evidence that it was a lie. He couldn't let it happen.
"Thanks," he replied--a smug smirk on his face.
"Forgive me, I am not one for sap--well not that much sap. I feel I am drowning in it as sweet as it sounds. I am glad I could tear you out of that boring school routine--but that was just how it happened I guess. You may be here to change mine--or perhaps to drag me off of the rebellious stage I have been in my whole life. Who knows?" He responded as if it didn't matter too much. He just didn't want to feel that feeling again---the one where he felt like he was losing himself. The cheesy conversation was causing that!
He thought about the question a moment and laughed. He had not thought of that but it was an easy one to cover. "One could say that. I haven't changed much in a long time--same personality. My mother wouldn't be too proud I must say." Not so much because of his personality--more because he brutally murdered her to cover up a lie so he could get power and become a king. That wouldn't make any parent too proud--even a demon's.
