Lila sat in the passenger set or her mum’s car. She stared out the window to the world that was distorted by the rain on the window. Lila was soaked through and walker droplets kept dripping from her hair onto her face and her cloths. She didn’t care any more; a couple more droplets would change anything. Lila’s ipod was turned up full blast and she was ignoring her mum babble on.
Lila could guess what she was saying, and she didn’t really care. It had been one of those mornings, you know the ones. The ones were every thing goes wrong e from the moment you wake up. For starters her alarm did go off, then when she got to the shower there was no longer any hot water. She finally made it down to get breakfast the she found her family had used all the milk, cereal and orange juice. So she had plain toast and black coffee. At last she was leaving the house and running out to the car. Things were looking up, her car started and she was on her way to school and she was on time. All was well until she was half way to school and her car decided to start smoking, and she had no signal. Lila then had to walk in the rain and ring the repair guy and her mum. The repair guy gave her the bad new about how he couldn’t fix her car then and there, and then her mum turned up and made her go to school.
So this is were she was. Soaked looking a mess and amazingly late for school. What was she meant to do, walk into her English class looking like she’d taken the cold shower with her cloths one. There was not way. She needed to dry off and sort out the way she looked. She’d have one and a half lesson before break. Would be plenty of time.
She ran from the car into the empty hallway of the school. She looked around was she walked making sure there were not teachers to tell her to go to class. She finally got to the boiler room; there would be hot pipes to hang her shoes and jacket on, and then she would stand near some thing else hot to dry the rest of her.
She walked down the steps into the empty boiler room hoping no one saw her. She took off her jacket and hung it over a pipe and took off her shoes and socks and hung them over another pipe. She then sat down on the floor with her back against the wall. She pulled her hair over to a side pony tail and ringed it out, as she did some of the water fell out into the floor.

Demetrius had woken up late that morning, not uncommon for him. He hated waking up in the morning, especially to go to school when that was not his real reason to be here. He could get the amulet without doing homework, but he needed to be in the building with that girl. It was his only chance to get the amulet from her. So here he was, suffering the homework for a chance to impress Alexander and hopefully become the King of Hell's Court over Lysander. Wow, that doesn't quite sound as great in my head as it did before.
Finding he had little time to get ready, Demetrius decided to skip out on morning classes. Who would notice? Instead he took his dear sweet time getting ready, got himself a coffee over at Starbucks and found himself at school by around mid-first period. Not wanting to get caught he strolled to the one place he knew would be teacher free, the boiler room.
He tucked some of his chestnut brown curls behind his ears as he opened the door and slipped through, closing it tightly behind him. He was in a pair of loose black jeans, comfortable and suitable. His loose crimson T-shirt had two thin black stripes across the front and some logo he cared nothing for. Stepping with his black and crimson shoes he followed his way deeper in to a more suitable spot. His loose black bag over one shoulder and a novel in his hand--not uncommon for Dem.
He was in a relatively decent mood, not having to go to morning classes contributing to that. He never claimed to be a good student, just that he was one. Not that that was too true either. A demon hardly needed to go to a human school, but odd things like Amulets, war, angels and demons make it necessary sometimes. Wow, that sounded kind of silly--any human he told that to would surely believe he was lying. Ha, Demetrius even felt like he was lying sometimes.
He rounded the corner to find someone as equally wet as he was standing there. He did have to walk after all. His shirt was spared, having had a rather thick coat on protecting him from the rain. His pants couldn't say the same and he was trailing a bit of mud around. His hair was wet, but the curls sat just the way he liked them to--so no serious harm was done. A little water never hurts an attractive guy after all...
Recognizing the girl he felt a few emotions. One was surprise--Lila was skipping? Second was concern, there had to be a reason. But lastly, He felt some weird sinking feeling, almost like he was worried she would be disappointed in finding him skipping. "Hey Lila!" he greeted. "Never thought I would see you skipping class? Did you have a bad morning?" He figured she must, as she didn't look too pleased to be standing there soaking wet.

Lila ringed as much of the water out of her hair as she could. she looked down at the wet ground underneath her. She was sill soaked, but she couldn't exactly take you top and jeans off in the middle of school. Just her luck today that some one would walk down, and then she's probably be kicked out of school or some thing. She didn't know the punishment if you were found in just your underwear, in the boiler room while skipping class.
She turned around hearing some one coming down the stairs. She so knew some one would come down. Please don't be a teacher... Please don't be a teacher. She repeated in her head, and was glad to see Demetrius. Then her heart fell as she remembered she looked like crap. smugged, make-up messed up, and dripping wet cloths. Not the best look.
She heard his question and she was shore she would look back and laugh. A bad morning as an understatement at this point. She looked down at her dripping cloths and as she looked back up at him a water droplet came from her hair and rolled down her face. "Yer, i guess you could say I've had a bad morning." She sighed. She felt bad about skipping class but what was she going to do, sit in class dripping wet?
"How about you Demetrius, You have class now to right? Or like me, did you have a bad morning." She said looking at how he was wet to. "I'll give you a hundred bucks if it was worse than mine." She said and finally cracked a smile.

Demetrius hadn't noticed the make-up, not caring for the decor but for the face behind it. She was pretty, that was for sure---Stop thinking about that fool... He scolded himself. He instead noted the clothes hanging near by and the fact that she was soaked. He found it lightly amusing but knew she must be having a hard day. She confirmed this and he nodded in understanding. Just to show he knew what she meant.
He laughed as she commented on the $100--"No, my day has been just fine. I woke up early and found it the perfect excuse to skip first. Then, to my luck it was pouring and now I am soaked, an excellent reason to skip second. I think today has been quite lovely." He laughed at how funny that must sound. It wasn't a secret that Demetrius hated class, he would find the simplest reasons not to go--if not for the fact that Elizabeth was there and he needed to get that d**n amulet.
"I guess you can keep your 100 bucks. I don't really need it anyway," he laughed. "Perhaps your day will get better, it couldn't hurt to try to be happy about the circumstances?" more a question than a fact. "Well, perhaps you would feel better to talk about it? I mean, it couldn't have been that bad could it?"
Instead of touching his wet hair he tossed his head so it flew out of his face, the water helped it stay there. As he did this he walked over and sat down comfortably on the floor--or at least as comfortably as he could. He waited for her to start to tell the story of her morning, not that he cared too much for the events. He just wanted to sit and talk with her--Demetrius found himself feeling slightly sick after that thought. Just a light headedness that passed quickly, but he let it go. Not caring much for the cause. He watched her patiently, unsure if she would be willing to talk about it.

She smiled and sighed a fake sigh of relief, "Good thing i don't have $100." She laughed. "If i did it wouldn't me much good. I would have got ruin in the rain to." She hopped she didn't have any money in her pockets that would just put the cherry on the top of every thing. Complete you crappy day, just as it began. Lila didn't want to check, just in case and then she might just give up on the whole day. Go home. Sleep.
"You really should go to class Demetrius. I mean stuff may seem pointless now, but I'm sure you could use it in later life." She poured and though about what she said. "Actually you will never need most of the things we learn. Once you leave school you can forget it, but try hard Dem. I mean it would suck for me to not graduate." She said. Lila didn't particular like school, but she was good at it and worked hard to do well in life. She was a geek she knew it.
She sat down next to him, not thinking he would mind. They were both wet so what difference would it make? "Well it was more like individual events all in a row that when put together drive you crazy." She explained before she started. "So it starts off with my alarm not going off, then when i go t woken up and went for a shower all the hot water was gone. So i had a cold shower, i went down for breakfast and all the cereal, milk and orange juice was gone. My annoying brother. So i grab a slice of plain toast and black coffee. My day was looking slightly better. So i get in my car and start driving, then half way to school my car breaks down in an area with rubbish cell signal. So i had to get out of my car and walk in the rain until i got signal to call the repair man and my mum. then walk back to my car in the rain. The guy said he couldn't fix my car then and then so my mum gave me a lift to school, and here i am." She explained.
"OK so i guess it seems stupid to you, but still annoyed me, and i got to add, the wet look not my look. Sp annoying guys can pull it off." She elbowed him. "But i look like a drowned rat. God could this day get any worse?" She said and lent her head onto Demetrius's shoulder

Demetrius found himself laughing again. "Wow, you must have had a bad day, to bet money you don't have," he said after his laughter subsided, which didn't take long. "Well, I guess you were not as happy with the rain as I was," he added after her new comment, a chuckle ending his sentence.
"I will graduate just fine, A few classes can't hurt. I promise I will go to third and fourth. Its not like I miss enough to be harmful. The stuff we learn is pretty pointless but I find I can usually pull off a decent grade." Her drive in school was part of what Dem liked about her, well more directly, the fact that she was so determined. At least she came across that way to him, to suffer day after day those slow lectures, Dem didn't know how the humans did it for a lifetime. School then work, wow that sounded crappy.
"I figured, if it was just one thing I would have guessed someone had died. Then I am sure you would be upset rather than simply in a bad mood." he responded in a serious tone. He turned to look at her since she was now next to him. He was genuinely surprised at her story, wow that was a lot of bad things in one day. "Well, that is hard to top. I must say, that is a really bad day--save the black coffee. No harm there!" He tossed his head again, letting more hair out of his face. "Well, on a bright note, if you had not had such a miserable day, you would not be soaking wet and we would not have met up in here because you would be in class. That is a positive, at least for me," he laughed. He hoped he could make her day a little better, not wanting her to have an all together miserable day.
"I think you look just fine, all you need is to get that crap off of your face--you don't really need it anyway. Its not a matter of pulling it off, I think it is simply we just don't care as much about a little water...okay a lot of water." He let her lean her head on his shoulder and felt his heart flutter. WAIT A MINUTE! What was that?! And why do I suddenly feel a sinking feeling again. Stop freaking yourself out--its nothing!! Snapping out of his thoughts quickly Dem let his eyes rest on the clothes hanging not far away.
"I am sure your day can only get better from here, Not much can make it worse, Its better to make the best of it," he advised her.

"Why were you so happy about the rain? I only like rain when i can stay in a warm house, with my family not around, watch movies and eat nice food. So no not a good day. I hate winter. I can wait until it's summer and it's really hot. Summer is the best time of year by far." She smiled just thinking about it. dry hot weather way better than cold wet weather any day.
"Yeah OK, missing a few classes wont hurt, and i agree most of the stuff is pointless. Saying that I'm also getting A's and B's so i know a lot of pointless things." She smiled. "I agree as long as you're passing your classes it doesn't matter to much. If you were failing horrible then this may be a different conversation. Anyway we don't have long until we leave, a year and a bit." She said and though about it for a second. "well it seems a long time but it will fly by."
"Yep that is a plus, i may be soaking wet, but at least i ca talk to you while i dry off. So I'm less made now, you've talked me out of my mood." She smiled "Kind of sad the best thing about my morning, up to know, was the black coffee. I could sure use another coffee though, and some food." She said thinking about it.
Lila looked up at Demetrius and smiled. "Thanks. When we leave here I'll go wash it off, and then people can see me with out make-up. Oh joy." She laughed. She didn't really mind not wearing it, but it was in her daily routine to put it on and no one had seem her with out make up on from she was some thing like 13.
"Yer don't worry, I'll be positive for the rest of the day. My day can't get worse."

Demetrius found her first question easy enough to answer. "I got to miss more class of course!" He quickly let it out a big smiled on his face just screaming 'how did you not guess that?' "The weather doesn't bother me, rain or shine; hot or cold. As long as I have the right accessories to cope with it I don't see the problem. Although--I do agree, I prefer the heat."
He was pleased to see a smile fully break across her features--a beautiful smile on a beautiful face, that feeling again! Dem was slightly disturbed by this feeling he was getting lately. Was he starting to see Lila as way more than just a human he had adopted as a 'friend'? This would completely screw up his game plan! No--he was overreacting. There was no proof that he was starting to care..right?
He felt a sense of satisfaction at finally getting an agreement out of her. It was good to see she understood but he did like how she worked hard for her A's and B's. He could live with his C's and D's. He was passing at least. He didn't comment on the factor of leaving school in a few years, he couldn't just tell her 'oh I won't be here that long. Instead I am going to snatch a necklace from a girl and become the ruler of an alternate realm. Not to mention bring about the destruction of a realm other than this one and the one I plan to rule.' Yes, that would sit great. She would think he was nuts!
"I am sure it will fly by. It will be a pleasant time getting there, but I guess a few changes need to happen every now and then." He was mostly referring to the time before he ruled Hell's Court, but he sounded like he was agreeing to the end of the year. He didn't need to say what he directed his comment about but let her believe otherwise. He felt a little guilty having not told her everything--shoot! Another sign of him possibly liking her more than as just a tool for his means. Did he really consider her a friend?
His smile grew a small bit as she admitted she could now talk to him and it had put her in a better mood. He laughed about the coffee comment easily enough, "A little coffee can go a long way!" he said with a playful wink. Didn't you have any breakfast?" he inquired. He wasn't hungry himself, having eaten some Lucky Charms that morning. Not to mention the chocolate chip muffin, Coffee and an apple. A full breakfast in his opinion.
He nodded, acknowledging her smile and the 'thanks' she gave him--having to snap out of thoughts of his breakfast to do so. He laughed, "I honestly think they won't mind seeing you without a mask for a change. The make-up looks nice and all, but seeing through it all is so much easier without it there!" He wasn't intending to flirt just giving his opinion of her. "Plus, I think a pretty face hardly needs to add make-up on to try to be more beautiful, it seems like too much sometimes." He wasn't intending to offend with this either, he just felt the make-up didn't do her justice. "If your miserable feel free to be miserable, but I think a smile during hard times or during a bad day always makes it feel a little better. It also helps you from dwelling on it!" He added on, hoping his advice would work for her.

She laughed and shock her head. "Of course i have no idea why i asked that?" She should have known. Any chance Demetrius got to skip class he would. The rebel. Teachers got annoyed with him, they saw him round the school; lunch break, but he skipped classes like it was his hobby. "I think every one prefers the heat, but at the end of the day it depends who your with and what your doing." Lila said not thinking. She could remember her and her ex boyfriend. They always seemed to get caught in the ran, and always ended staying out longer than they needed to be just making out. Only good memory of rain.
"I hope it dose. I can't wait to graduate. It will be one of those days that stick in your mind forever. Growing up and leaving school. The last day with the your whole year. You've got to swear you'll have a picture with me even if for some reason we fall out and hate each other. One picture so i can look but and be like: 'Hey that's Demetrius and me the day we left school. I remember sitting in the boiler room with him when we were both soaked." She smiled up at him. "Promise?" She said staring straight into his eyes.
"I had a piece of toast, that's it. Normally i have quiet i big breakfast. Well big girls breakfast." She knew how boys ate more than girls. Just look at her brother. He eats them out of house and home nearly every day. Lila had no idea were he put all the food.
Lila didn't really care what other people though of her, just Demetrius. Lately things had been different between them. Well for Lila it had been different. Though she had no idea bout how Demetrius felt. Some times the way he talked she'd get her hopes up he felt the same. Then he's use the dreaded word 'friend.' "yer who cares what other people think right." She smiled slightly. "No I'm glad I'm not in a bad mood any more. I tend to stay in one until some one breaks me out of it. Like you did, then I'm thankful."

He laughed with her, enjoying the fact that the simple question had been enough for the two of them to make a small joke. He enjoyed skipping classes, especially if he could see the teacher somewhere around the school at a different time of the day. He wanted them to know he skipped. It could be considered a hobby almost, but he always was sure to have a decent excuse.
Demetrius nodded, but his face clearly said he only got part of the sentence. He knew being around others was important and it did have an effect on your day, and your life. However, at the end of the day, to him, it was all about the bed he came home to and a solid sleep. Then again, Sleeping could also be considered a hobby for him. Maybe he simply didn't understand because he wasn't a human? I mean, he could blend well enough but there would always be differences. A perfect example being how many Lilas were walking around? One. How many Demetrius? Well so far he had only ever gone so far as 8 duplicates. That was certainly a difference. Maybe this was one of those things.
Demetrius nodded, "I guess I can promise that!" Demetrius didn't want to break the promise to her, but he hardly felt he would be around that long. Better take one soon he added on in his mind. He didn't care for the whole graduation thing, then again, this wasn't his world to enjoy. He didn't like this world that much. It was better than his own in some aspects but he liked being at Hell's Court.
He laughed as she told him just what she wanted to say when looking at the photo. He figured that it was something worth laughing over. His eyes portrayed his deep amusement and he nodded to her, "Of course I promise, but I get a copy!" He hoped she did get that picture before they fell apart or he left. What would she think when she discovered he was not what he said he was? What would she think? Would she still look at him the same? Would they really hate each other? Why did he care? All Questions he hated to ask. Well, He hoped she wouldn't find out about him, that way he would just be gone one day. She wouldn't get to judge him for what he was.
Demetrius smiled, "Better toast than nothing!" he exclaimed. "Well, Some do, I know I can care at times. Not often though, usually it is simply a 'Hey, I am Demetrius, deal with it!' Who cares what others think of you without a little make-up on. I think you are pretty without it and I am the only one who really matters!".---Well I am glad I could help!" Hearing her day was no longer foul or bad, his smile grew again. He hadn't really stopped smiling long at all. He did enjoy her company. Perhaps a little too much---This friendship is getting dangerous. Do I even consider her just a friend anymore? He asked himself.
No voice answered his questions and he let them drop, still keeping eye contact with Lila as the two spoke.

She raised her eyebrow. "you guess you could promise that?" She said and put on a fake shocked face. "This calls for one thing." She help out her little finger. "Give me you little finger." She smiled. "You brought it to this we're going to have to pinky promise, and if you break and pinky promise bad things happen, like..." She pursed for a minuet "OK so i can't think of anything good but bad things Demetrius, real bad things." She smiled brightly waiting for his little finger.
"And for course you can have a copy. Will you look at it and got; 'hey this is Lila and me on graduation day, i remember being soaking wet and sitting in a boiler room with her." She said putting on a low voice trying to sound like him, then she burst out into laughter. "if not what will you say when you look at it?" She asked. She could just Imagen him just being like 'yer thats some chick i went to high school with. When some one asked about the picture.
"But I'm still hungry." She pouted and held her hands out like she was begging. "Please sir, I'm terribly cold and hungry, spare me some change so i can get some food." she looked up at him with puppy dog eyes, then laughed again. she was joking again.
"knowing me I'd walk up to the hugest guy in the school and be like 'hey I'm Lila, get over it...ummm sorry.' Then run away and cower in a corner some were. But seriously I don't care what any one else thinks." She smiled. She was being serious at last.

He watched her expression and he laughed as she put on the fake shocked face. However, when she asked for his little finger he was completely confused. What was she up to? He listened to her explain the pink promise and he rose an eyebrow. He could think of plenty of bad things that can happen--luckily he wasn't superstitious! He could break this promise if it came to it. Why did he feel so bad about the thought of breaking it!? Let it go... just do her little pinky promise. It means nothing to you! he scolded himself.
He put his hand in front of him raising his pinky. He found this quite silly personally and laughed at her saying bad things happen when you break a promise--mostly because she couldn't find something bad that could happen. That alone killed the superstition for him. However, Demetrius hoped he could keep this promise for her. He found himself wondering if he could but scratched it off. No! He couldn't! He wouldn't be here long enough--Now enough fantasizing and enough hoping for someone you can't have--- THAT was it!...Now three things crossed Demetrius' mind. 1. So this is how Lysander has been feeling? 2. I am about to lose my throne if I don't fix this! and lastly, 3. Why did you let it go this far fool!?
Demetrius laughed at her impression of him. "More like, 'That is Lila, a girl from high school that had a little too much energy for her own good but could beat the best of them!" He smirked. He laughed again as she 'begged' for money. "I don't mind buying you a lunch y'know." He told her his smile not wavering. The thoughts in his head were in no way displayed but really, he was once again scolding himself. He knew he should break all contacts period and never talk to her again. Spare himself from becoming something he didn't want to become. But he didn't really want to! He was so afraid of losing everything but he had never thought that he might have something to gain. He let the conversation about her security without make-up drop for the mean time as she had ended it on a serious note.

Lila gripped Demetrius little finger and shock it. She smiled. "See know you have to graduate, So you can have the picture with me, and see me as our valadictorian...well hopefully any way. My parent hope will be any way. Well then i would have to make a speech and i don't really want to. But always aim high right." She smiled. OK so she was in a good mood now. Demetrius might regret making her happy.
"To d**n right." She smiled. "It's going to be so weird leaving this play but going to college. I can't wait. Though will miss you Demetrius." She said it wished she didn't. God she just wanted to know were the to were. If it was just her with a crush, or if he felt the same. God guys could be so annoying.
"So you know were you might go to college or are you just not going to be assed?" She raised and eyebrow. She hoped he would go to college and a good one at that. Demetrius was made for great things Lila knew that he just didn't put the work in. He would probably be top of the year if he did. But the day Demetrius put effort into his work, is the day hell would freeze over.
"I've got money in my bag for lunch, it's just it's not lunch now, but I'm hungry now. See dilemma here?" She asked.

Demetrius smiled and nodded, "Well--if it is what you want go for it, if it is just what your parents want, drop the pursuit. It is harder to succeed in goals another has set for you." He was glad she was happy now. He had lowered his pinky and sat his hands back on his leg, his damp pants were clinging uncomfortably to his legs. He may like the rain but he certainly didn't enjoy the way it made the clothes stick so closely to the body. Quite annoying really.
Demetrius didn't take the comment as it could have been intended. He smiled for her still and responded in a casual tone masking anything he may have been feeling with the happy exterior he had gotten use to displaying. "I will miss you horribly when the time comes for us to go our separate ways. Life has a way of bringing people together again though..." He felt he was telling the truth even though he was just speaking bullnuts. He didn't want to believe his words--or did he? Great, now he was confused in his own mind.
He smiled, knowing he had no intention of going to college, he would be back in Hell's Court before that happened. He didn't want to lace more lies together for her and instead he nodded his head and seemed to be in thought a moment. "No, I don't think I will go to college. I might, I don't know where I am going after high school, however, I do know that my education here is going to hell once I leave here." He hid his true meaning, but inside Demetrius praised himself for the pun. He wished he had someone to share the humor and felt so guilty again for not telling her. He covered that guilt with his knowledge, knowing she would never speak to him again after hearing such a story.
He laughed, "I guess I see the dilemma. However, if you keep your mind off of it for a bit, lunch will come soon enough. First should be ending very soon. After its over its only another--" he cut off. Wait, that wasn't a positive thought. "Eh, Here!" He dragged over his bag and popped it open and handed her a bag. Inside a lettuce, ham and mayo sandwich was found. Along with an orange, carrot sticks, ranch dressing (in a container), two juice boxes and a container of macaroni salad. "Help yourself, It can tide you over till lunch" He was disappointed he hadn't thought of it sooner. He smiled in an all-knowing way that implied he didn't mind her eating his lunch. Not to mention he made a mean macaroni salad.
"I've got money in my bag for lunch, it's just it's not lunch now, but I'm hungry now. See dilemma here?" She asked.

She shrugged "If i get it, i get it. If i don't i wouldn't cry about it. As long as i get to graduate that day i will be happy and smiling all day." If for some reason she didn't graduate, every one should run for cover, but for her not to graduate some thing big would have to happen.
She smiled "Yes and they are called reunions." She joked. "Well after we graduate i hope to see you be for the reunion. How weird will that be, being older." She shivered slightly at the thought. Lila wanted to grow up with out getting old. Though she couldn't see how that would work, being eighty and looking eighteen.
"You've got to do what you feel is right. Some time college isn't for every on. Well if you're getting sewed or if you're dieing come see me. I'm going to be a lawyer or doctor, i still don't know what one to choose. Though i have come a long way with what i want to be when I'm older. When i was four i said i wanted to be a giraffe ." She laughed.
She smiled at the sight of food. "I official love you right now, or is it i love the food?" She smiled. Demetrius was always so nice to her, Lila was glad.
