For countless ages, religious people have believed and spread word that an idea of heaven is one where people of pure heart reside, and that hell is where sinful people are doomed to go. This is not entirely true; you have to think of the entire story, the one that history leaves out. The courts of Heaven and Hell are no longer run in this day and age by a God or a Satan, though some still believe so. However, the courts of the two spiritual kingdoms are run by similar creatures of different hierarchy and rank, what we came to know today as angels and Demons. The angels of the heavenly court are what you might think any angel to be, usually light hair and blue eyes with gorgeous white wings to match a white tunic or robe to keep any 'untouchable' areas from being shown off. Meanwhile, those who run the Hell's court are not disgusting red creatures with beady eyes and red skins like Satan himself, but similar angels, but exactly the opposite. Usually darker haired with red or dark brown eyes and large black wings, and usually keep themselves naked.
Once upon a time, before the first humans, animals, or plant life arrived onto Earth, there were no such separate things as a holy and unholy court. Every angel had different looks to them and they all worked as one as "guardian angels", created by the Big Guy himself to make sure everything would always run smoothly for humans, animals, and plant life alike. Eventually, a tiny argument that dealt with half of the group not caring enough for plants and animals and too much for humans grew into an all out war where as the other side cared much more for the plants and animals than for the humans, claiming that the first was more superior. Eventually, the original group of ten broke into two of five, and so an idea of Satan was born, inviting these wayward angels to have a place to go, a place to rule. And so a deep hatred for the angels of the heavenly court grew within them as well as a deep hatred for humans. Meanwhile, the angels of the heavenly court (each court growing steadily in size with birth and creation of themselves) did not really have much of a hatred for animals or plant life but had a deep hatred for those of the hell court.
And so a war broke out, each side battling for superiority. For whichever side won would take absolute control of both courts, and change the life on Earth as we know it. If the heaven side would be victorious, perhaps all of the animal and plant life would go extinct and leave we humans to die or be completely helpless, and if the hell's court would be victorious than we humans would begin dying off more and more quickly. This war going on around our eyes is why we have such things. . . such things as death, disease, illness, animal extinction, wildfire, as well as other ailments. Both courts are however evenly matched, since the original rulers of each kingdom were all made from the same one ultimate being. So while this war rages and the hatred and tension between the two courts grows only more and more, neither side has proved to be victorious and only grew to be a hassle and danger to all three forms of life on Earth over time, growing so strongly not that even the ideas of the Big Guy or Satan can stop them anymore.
The only two powers that can stop this war and grant victory to either side are the two ultimate, forever sought after deities; destiny and fate. Maybe for their own little trickery or fun, or maybe because they did not want to bear the idea of having to choose a victor, they did not step in to end this war. The two courts each began to chase after the deities alone, and so eventually - tired of being chased and hunted like animals, the two deities formed as one to become a precious amulet full of spiritual, pure, and sinful power all in one. Burying itself underground, for no demon or angel could touch it without being severely paralyzed, the only one who could touch it and have the powers of the two ultimate deities - powers that could match that of even the Big Guy or Satan or any of the angels of either of the court - would be its human counterpart. And so it waited for centuries as the war raged on for its human counterpart to be born, and born she was. In present day New York City, Elizabeth Williams is a normal fifteen, going on sixteen year old girl. She has been an adoptive child for as long as she can remember; in fact her elderly adoptive parents told her the story, saying they found her on their doorstep when she was only a child. When she was out one day, minding her own business, she found the amulet, half buried in a child's sand box. Assuming it a worthless trinket, she kept it, not thinking much of it. Meanwhile, both courts heard news that the human counterpart for this ultimate claim to victory was born, the only one who can hold and possess and use the power of the two deities, and so they send their most powerful warriors from each side down to Earth in the disguises of everyday humans. They wander about without a clue and, with a hint; they all enroll into the local high school which Elizabeth attends.
When Elizabeth is at her very last hopes, she finally puts on the necklace and the power within it and herself begins to awaken. This alerts the two courts of just who holds the power, and each separate being having a different intention do all they can and then some to get her to hand this power over in their favor.
